I have struggled with this blog for a while. Not knowing whether or not to continue it, wanting to but not knowing what to do with it. I'm not really excited about SL much anymore. Fashion is just another victim of my disinterest. Maybe at some point it will continue, but for now, not so much.

So au revoir SL fashion feeds. Thank you for being here as my creative outlet for so long. I look forward to reading all the amazing blogs that are out there keeping us up to date and inspired.

MANKIND TRACER'S PEACE, LOVE & BELIEF V - 60 SIM MEGA CONCERT

On November 6th - 12-2PM SLT (PDT) musician Mankind Tracer is planning the largest ever multi sim live concert event in Second Life's history across 60 different Sims. The event is confirmed to be featured in the Second Life Destination Guide! Last year at PLB IV they had 2500+ on the live stream across 52 sims!

*** 50% of all proceeds, either from venue participation, sponsors or residents' tips during the event will be donated to help fund research for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The Les Turner ALS Research Laboratory at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, led by Teepu Siddique, MD, is focused on understanding the processes by which ALS develops so that effective treatments can be developed. Over the past few years, Mankind Tracer, one of SL's most recognized live performer, has held his Peace, Love & Belief Concerts, with the last PLB IV event broadcast Live on Video and carried on 52 different sims.

After almost 5 years of performing in SL, Mankind Tracer has won many prestigious awards, performed countless charitable events for both large and personal causes and he has released 3 SL CD's which have seen tremendous success in SL. After almost 5 years of continual live performing in SL, his concerts are often still packed, with most being driven by audience requests and of course his wonderful original music.

PLB V will again be a Live Video Concert. The concert is planned to last for two straight hours. There will also be a live audio stream just in case residents don't have the ability to see video. Mankind will stream his live show across SL via the new "Stage Screen". This year, there will still be the Land Mark Board which, as with all previous PLB Events, will clearly display the names of all participating venues/sims/sponsors and each venue name and/or Sponsor Ad will be clickable to their respective LM's.

Blogging Again?

Well of course! lol

A month or so ago, I said I was taking a break from blogging. I meant it. I did. But you know...I miss it. So I've been back to blogging a bit.

Here's the deal..lol...this blog has morphed into more of a...hmmmmm...not fashion per se, but of showcasing some things I really love in SL by designers I think are exceptional in the quality of products they provide. Some are blogger copies and some I just find around the grid I want to share. Other posts are about things going on in SL, events and stuff.

My struggle with blogging has been my desire to blog SL things and to blog my personal feelings, hopes, dreams, fears...whatever I want...on a more personal level. Those things don't belong on the feeds, but only for those few ppl I trust, which is as it should be.

So I've decided to keep this blog fun and just for sharing stuff SL-related and to create another blog for my own personal stuff. I've been going to SL every day for almost 5 yrs. Something happened...i'm not sure what...but I just don't go there much anymore. The place depresses me. I think I've been there too long as Joonie. I would love to just drop back into obscurity. There just isn't anything there for me any more.

So now what? It's been a habit for 5 yrs to walk into the "study" and turn on my laptop, sit down, go to SL and just stay for hours. Or chat on yahoo. Or lately, play cityville and surf and youtube. It's been SO hot here for weeks. Maybe that's just an excuse. Even the live music scene is boring me.

The last few days I've tried to stay away from this room altogether. Try to find something to do, you know, that doesn't involve this laptop. But before I know it, I just look up and here I am again. Like I'm looking for something in here. Like a lost part of me. I think I know what it is, but I'm only going to find it inside me. Not out there somewhere. I know that and yet, here I am....

As much as I hate to admit it, I think I've used SL and fb and all this online stuff to avoid....my life. Not that my life is terrible. It sooooo isn't. I have a relationship with someone who loves me unconditionally. I have everything materially a person needs to survive and thrive. But for whatever reason, I've turned to SL to make my life better. To fb for fun. To whatever for whatever. And in the process, I think I lost me.

My rl used to be rich and have meaning. It still does to an extent. But not like it did before SL. I no longer go to AA meetings or church. I don't work out. I have no outside social life really. I'm not sure how all this happened. I have my art studio kind of setup the way I want it, but I never go in there. I've become a shell of who I once was. I wonder if this has happened to anyone else. I never hear anyone own up to it.

I'm on so many social networking sites I can't even remember them all. And I don't care about any of them! Why do I join them? Is it pressure to be part of the "in" ppl of SL? If so, that pressure is coming from me. I never used to care about that. I relish in being my own person.

I wonder what ppl share about online. Weight gain and lose? I wish anyone with that issue the best of luck. But I don't know you. Their fights with their bf/gf? Again, I know that can be difficult. I wish you the best. But...I don't know you. What you ate? What you think is funny? Your fave tv show, movie, clothing line, haircut, toilet bowl cleaner? Don't care.

Maybe it's me. Maybe I just don't want to share...myself...with ppl I don't know. Maybe I'm just shy or something. I never have really fit in. Why would I think I could start now? Bah!

So here is my dilemma. I have spent 5 yrs in a place that brought me many things, but also took a lot from me. Recovery has taught me that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity. And yet, I return to SL, Plurk, Google+....et al...expecting it to be fun. And it just isn't anymore for me.

So how to assimilate back into RL? That is perplexing me most of all. This lappy has become like a drug to me. Maybe it's not the lappy, but the promises it tells me can be had within. Love, friendship, a life I can't really have. But is it real? Or is it just another diversion that keeps me from living my RL?

{what next} Pied-a-Terre Chaise for Chic's 1 Year Birthday!

Winter Thorn and FrankLee Anatra have done it again. This new chaise from {what next} is an exclusive to CHIC's 1st birthday event which runs until June 19th. I absolutely adore this chaise. It has soooo many animations available (see below) and the color change combinations are to die for.

The color combinations are endless. I'm not kidding, I played around with these for longer than I want to admit. Gorgeous rich colors. Because of it's versatility, this chaise fits in with any decor.

One of the the things I most adore about {what next} are the amazing animations. There are 3 areas on the chaise that provide animations: the front pillow, the first cushion, and the end cushion. Each area has up to 4 sit animations for singles - male and female, and couples - male and female. That's up to 36 total animations. Actually, there's more! When Winter Thorn of {what next} released the Laurel Cottage, she promised a kitchen, and o.m.g. did she deliver! I love that the pieces come in a rez faux box which fits perfectly into the kitchen with everything in tact AND that the pieces can be rezzed and used separately, too.

I took way too many pics because I wanted to show just how much versatility is in this set. You can change the backsplash, the cabinets, the countertops...even the baskets on top of the cabinets change fabric!

The stove has on and off flame. The teapot has steam on and off. The water in the sink...god, I'm gushing. So I'll stop here and get on with the pics...

So many color combinations and, if you use it in the {what next} Laurel Cottage, you have the option of the walls changing color, too!

But one of my very fave things about all things {what next} are the animations! Here I'm supervising...erm...watching my friend, Braden, fix dinner...

Destination

Crossed the state line into CO today. Pulled into the hotel in Denver around 5pm. Was nice to reach our destination safely. I thought I might talk a bit about destinations. About how nice it is to know where you're going and how to get there. But I'm tired and I'm not sure I'm up to tackling that at the moment. So...I'll just say that, altho the destination is the goal, the way there is just as important.

How we get there, what we do long the way...those are important parts of the journey. I took a few detours, crossed a few bridges, and burned a few along the way. One nice thing I did was listen to several cds. One in particular my RL burned for me had a James Taylor song on it I had forgotten about. I'm sharing it below because it stuck with me all day. Hope you enjoy. Hopefully tomorrow's post will be more insightful or at least, more fun.

Road Trip!

So this post is going to have NOTHING to do with SL ... exactly. I'm really exhausted but i'm on a road trip to Denver. Tonight, I'm staying in Hay, KS. My poor doggie, Molly, is sleeping in the car because this stupid Best Western doesn't accept pets. Oh well. She's in her crate and the doors are locked and the windows are down an inch, so I hope she's okay.

RFL Home Expo is over. I'm exhausted and really needed this vacay. I'll be in Denver for 10 days. I have to admit I'm kind of excited about not being in SL for a while. I mean, I'll have wifi, but I've spent the last 10 days in SL for like 8 - 10 hours at a time. My butt is still numb!

So Hope. Well, interesting things seem to happen to me while I'm doing RFL Events, especially in the realm of relationships. Suffice it to say, some interesting information was revealed and it confirmed, beyond a shadow of doubt, what I suspected for a while. So why Hope? I guess I'm hopeful that tomorrow and next week and the days ahead are full of adventure and wisdom and ... hope. Hope for some self love. Hope for the ability to choose more wisely how I spend my time. Hope that love finds a way and wins in the end. I guess I'm a hopeless romantic and never give up on the belief that love, real love, makes everything right.

RFL Home Expo 2011 is in full swing and I've had the privilege of working with the team there as the Live Music Coordinator. Yay! It's been a lot of fun and no one loves prefabs and furniture more than me! So when I was asked to work there, I jumped at the chance!

There are many amazing creators there and OMG .... {what next} is one of them! Below, you will see what Winter Thorn has put together. And a big shoutout to FrankLee for singing at Home Expo! If you havent heard him, catch a show soon! He was amazing.

Below is the Laurel Cottage. It comes with color change wall panels, woodburnng stove with options (the door opens and close...love that!) and chimney smoke and outdoor lanterns.

This is what you see when you enter the cottage. I love the fireplace and the openness of the space. It's very breathable while being cozy at the same time. And that sunroom..love it. I also love the wood textures.

Giving Up the Ghost

Sometimes, doing what you know you need to do is difficult. Even when its been needed for a while. Even when you KNOW it needs to be done. It's funny how you just know something, but can't prove it. And then...by accident...you find the proof that validates what you've been thinking all along.

Once the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, there aren't many choices left. So "off with their heads," decrees the Queen. And roll it does. But not without some hurt feelings, a sense of betrayal, and just an icky "how could I have been so stupid" feeling. Below are some helpful suggestions to make this transition period a bit easier to handle.

Get out of the house!

Resist the urge to isolate yourself. If you just can’t bear to be around people, at least go outside and walk around the block, get some fresh air.

Let Go

Let go of the hurtful past. It will only hinder you from creating and cherishing the precious moments in your life.

Relax

This too shall pass. Hold on and hope that tomorrow will bring more than sunshine…even some joy!

Fashion & Music - Club Graffiti Opens Today @ 1pm

I love when music and fashion come together, so when Kalli Birman dropped a notecard on me with the following info on it, I knew I had to share it:

The Village, Second Life's newest hot spot, will be having The Official Launch on Friday April 29th at 1PM SLT. Owned by Mankind Tracer and Kalli Birman, The Village is modeled after Greenwich Village, NYC of the 1970's and will be home to some of the best couture boutiques Second Life has to offer including House of RFyre, Gizza, Paris Metro, Tres Beau, Bliss Couture, Vogue, Blacklace, Mary Jane Shoes.

The Village is also home to the new underground rock venue, "Club Graffiti". It is inspired by one of the most famous clubs in Greenwich Village, CBGB's and the area where the whole punk movement of the 1970's began. Artists such as David Bowie, The Ramones, Blondie, The Talking Heads and many others made their way through CBGB's to begin a new revolution in music.

Club Graffiti will host weekly shows by top SL musicians. Mankind Tracer, one of Second Life's most well known live performers and co-owner of The Village, will also perform every Sunday night at 9PM SLT.

The launch will be opened by the popular band The Follow at 1pm slt and will continue at 2pm slt with a performance by Mankind Tracer. It is asked that all attendees remove any attachments and scripted objects prior to arrival to help reduce lag.

The sim will open at 12:30PM SLT to allow time for guests to arrive.

Music has influenced fashion for decades. Think the '60's with it's hippie/boho chic looks, the '70's with disco and Elton John, '80's with menswear and Madonna, '90's with Grunge and Kurt Cobain, and the 2000's with mashups and Katy Perry and Gaga and Kanye and hip hop....and yet to be seen.

Fashion and Music just go together. And no where do you see that better than in the clubs. That's why I love this concept of a club in SL with amazing fashion and shops right outside the door. And oh what a club and oh what shops! And the sim is based on The Village in NY in the 1970's. One place you do NOT want to miss is the restroom in the club.

Enough said!

The Follow will be kicking off the opening TODAY at 1pm. Doors open at 12:30pm.

{what next} New Release - Serendipity Gardens Porch Set

I've been having major issues with things showing up when I take photos in SL. Shadows aren't showing up. Objects with glow aren't showing up. It's bizarre. I still don't know what the problem is and it's across several viewers. All that to say ... I would have blogged this sooner but I was holding out hope that I could do it with shadows. But I gave up and decided to go ahead and blog it because I absolutely love everything Winter Thorn of {what next} does and this set is no exception. And you need to see it!

The Serendipity Garden Porch Set is perfect for sitting outside in the warm weather with friends or that person you love but is a pain in the ass. I love the animations. The cushions are color change and the flame can be turned on or off. The tea glass dispenses a glass of tea for the drink animation and the pitcher is sooo cute. The knitting basket gives out two knitting needles. Below are just a few of the animations available.

So I recieved the following group notice the other day:

Dear Friends,

I know there are folks who visit my sims daily, weekly, or monthly and that these spaces have become a part of their experience in Second Life. I am announcing the closing of my spaces 6 months in advance so that it won't come as a surprise, drama, or rumor.
It is merely the end of a series of artworks. I continue to paint, sketch, photograph and write about my time here on this little rock collection that's spinning and hurtling through space.

IDIA Labs of Ball State University has been gracious to host my work without demand or requirement. The sunsetting of the IDIA Lab sim is the result of positive and thoughtful input from IDIA, myself, and many of you.
I have archived the work already, and I appreciate the impulse to want to save the work.
The work though was as social as any avatar in SL, making friends with many of you and enabling so many positive experiences many of you have let me know about. ALL OF YOU are what the artwork really was. It isn't in the prims, the textures, or scripts. It was in your willingness to explore and experience the world in a way I tried to share it. My time in SL has been like having hundreds of people analyzing my dreams every morning. I have learned so much about many of you, but truly learned so much about myself.

Please feel free to continue to visit. Please encourage anyone you know who will miss the spaces to visit them with you. See my picks in my profile for landmarks.
The extent of my estate is a foothold by the water. All are welcome to the inifinite within it.

Winter Thorn has been uber busy creating cute stuff! Below is her adorable offering for Project Themeory called Surfer's Paradise. The table (surfboard)can be changed from plain to the design on the right. The photo frame can be edited to hold your fave photos. And I love the wall design made of driftwood and lights!

Up next is Winter's Lazy Sunday item. I love these Starfish lights! So cute and ready for those lazy Summer evenings outside. There are two options - gold and silvery or colors. I hung mine in my trees but Winter includes tintable posts you can use. I tinted mine but they come in a nice wood texture.

This month's SUYS theme is "So Boho" and Clementine Ishtari of Awesome Blossom strikes again! She's made a little Bohemian Hideaway for you! The Bohemian Hideaway features the Bohemian Skybox and Skydome. The skybox has 5 built-in sits on the inside railings and includes a "Home Sweet Home" sign and a barrel flower planter for the outside of the skybox. The Bohemian Skydome is a pretty outdoor environment for your skybox. It features moving clouds, some sculpted hills and 6 texture change options for the grass.
