RL/SL Artist Requests Help from SL Fashion Designers

UPDATE: Thanks to Belleza skin, hoornebeek clothing and KMADD. This av is going to be hot!

In RL, art, fashion, and music cross over many times. Why not in SL? Misprint Thursday, a RL and SL artist, is reaching out to the fashion community. An exciting project she is working on with a RL musician is in need of some help. And this is where YOU come in. This amazingly hot talented hot RL musician needs some help in making him look .. well...hot. She is requesting help from you, SL fashion designers. Please read below and contact Misprint if you are interested in getting involved. If you've been thinking about shaking things up a bit, this might just be the opportunity for you.

From Misprint:

Dear Fine Creator,

I am writing to you today to be part of something special. I am part of a RL project as a musician and an organizer which is to raise funds for Amnesty International and War Child Canada. The project is called Peace Partners. Currently, Peace Partners has 3 albums out and is in the process of increasing awareness and working toward increasing album sales. Part of this promotional effort includes doing an interview and live show through Pop Art Lab and their televised program Pop Vox. I personally have a track on the third album, Vision of Peace.

On November 1, real life musician Kevin Thompson of Montreal will play live as part of this promotion. Kevin is THE up and coming musician for Francophone Canada and we are very excited he will come to Second Life to perform. Although he sings in French his appeal goes beyond language barriers.

This brings me to my request. I have been charged with assisting styling the avatars of the director of Peace Partners and the avatar of Kevin Thompson. I am looking for a donations of a few complete male avatar styles which will be used for an upcoming treet TV televised event, as well as other promotion. (I also would not say no to a promotional skin/make over as I am in the interview as well) The statistics from Treet TV show that shows get around 40,000 hits. In exchange for your donation you will be thanked and credited as styling the avatars on Treet TV with a link and a mention by myself who will also be in the interview.

We hope you will consider this opportunity because it could be a nice promotion for your goods and a good project to support.

Here are some links about the project Peace Partners and about Kevin Thompson:

Please contact me regarding this and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Very best,
Misprint Thursday

RL/SL Artist Misprint Thursday Collaborates with Peace Partners

I received the following from my friend, Misprint Thursday. Sounds like a worthy endeavor. Misprint is an amazing visual artist and now her talented voice is being used in a positive way. Please read and spread the word.

Misprint Thursday is an artist in SL and RL. She has a track called "Run In Freedom" on a fundraiser album "Vision Of Peace".  She would like to promote the album in SL which will raise funds and awareness for Amnesty International and War Child Canada. She is asking the SL community to check out the project and support it by speaking about it and mentioning it in their blogs. tweets, websites etc. Please post a link to your blog to promote the album and the project. It is a worthy cause.
You can link to the album here:

ABOUT PEACE PARTNERS:

It started out in early 2009 as a nebulous thought that kept tickling the mind of Canadian musician, Patrick Lajeunesse: Could he use Indaba Music, an on-line collaborative-music site, to bring together musicians from around the world to write and record original songs dedicated to the twin ideals of peace and freedom?

Patrick proposed his idea in an Indaba “group” message…and the rest, as they say, is history!

Over the past year, more than 60 musicians from a dozen different countries have collaborated on and contributed 40 songs to Patrick’s “Peace Partners” project.
These collaborations are truly international in scope. The various Peace Partners composers and collaborators (only a few of whom have ever met in “real life”) hail from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Italy, Germany, and Australia…to name but a few of the globe-spanning locations these incredibly talented individuals call home. Taking full advantage of modern technology, they composed, discussed, arranged, recorded, refined, mixed, and mastered their musical creations exclusively through on-line collaborations – sharing initial ideas and, ultimately, individual musical contributions, over the Internet.

The resulting Peace Partners songs are as diverse, musically, as the nationalities of their creators – ranging from pop to classic rock to classical to “World” music to jazz-fusion to “good ol’ rock & roll”…and everything in-between.

Naked Barbies Ejected from SL7B

Something very disturbing is going on and it isn't even about the image below. This image just opened a can of worms that refuses to go back in. Here's the story:

Misprint Thursday, a well-known RL and SL artist, was ejected today from SL7B because her exhibit was deemed unfit. The image is below.

The image is part of an exhibit Misprint created to thank the people who have been a part of her SL collaborations. Misprint added the Barbie images in a show of support for a fellow artist whose work was rejected the previous day from the PG sim after being pre-screened and pre-approved. She chose the Barbie image as a way to ask the question "is this not PG?"

SHAWN Masters, a Moderator for SL7B, approached Misprint and asked her what the textures were about. There was an exchange between SHAWN and Misprint where she stated that the Barbie images were PG and not offensive, to which Mr. Masters replied, "not to the normal mind." The conversation continued with Mr. Masters stating that in SL,

SHAWN Masters: you do have pedifiles
Misprint Thursday: that has nothing to do with these pictures

Misprint defends her art as being PG and states she would like to take it up with Linden Labs. At the point, Mr. Masters points out that "there is one to my right." Misprint speaks to Blondin Linden for several minutes with no response. At this point, Mr. Masters re-enters the conversation by asking

SHAWN Masters: Misprint...do you have children
Misprint Thursday: Shawn-you are out of line
Misprint Thursday: asking me that
Misprint Thursday: that is not your business
Misprint Thursday: and has nothing to do with this
SHAWN Masters: there are on average....20 pedifiles within a 50 mile square
Misprint Thursday: listen
SHAWN Masters: SL is a breeding ground
Misprint Thursday: that has nothing to do with this

Misprint then asks Blondin Linden if he agrees that SL is a breeding ground for pedophiles. Blondin never answered the question. Misprint was then asked again to remove the images which she refused to do, standing by her assertion that the images were PG. Her explanation was met only with "good day mam" from Mr. Masters.

Misprint told Blondin Linden she was cancelling her premium account in protest of the process Linden Labs uses to determine what is PG and non-PG content. Misprint is asked by Blondin Linden to remove the images or be ejected from the sim. Misprint politely refuses and is subsequently ejected from the sim. Her Barbie texture was returned to her.

She was also ejected from the SL7B builders group and no longer has access to the rest of her art installation. Basically, parts of her idea are still standing and she is unable to access them.

This is wrong on so many levels. It's not about the naked Barbies, although that is ridiculous. Children play with Barbies every day. There are millions made off of the manufacture and sales of Barbie clothes. Those clothes don't just miraculously appear on the Barbies, they have to be placed on them somehow. Do you really think that Mom, or god forbid, Dad comes in and changes the clothes for them while the child hides their eyes? But I digress.

What it's really about is the absurdity of SHAWN saying that SL is a "breeding ground for pedophiles" and Blondin Linden not contradicting him, therefore, backing up his claim. The icing on this messed up cake is that a Linden would eject a passionate, creative member of the SL Art community over a naked Barbie and cutting her off from her own work. I can't imagine having my art compromised by anyone, not to mention being isolated from it, knowing that it is being used by the same people who altered it and denied my access to it.

Look out for naked Barbies. If you see one, call Mr. Masters right away! Pedophiles are sure to be nearby!
