Goodies with a Dash of Magic

I have a lot (I think) that I want to say. So let's get on with the Goodies. These are a few items from the Blue Dressing Room that I just had to have once I received the notecard. All of these items are under 100L.

First is Mimikri - Starlet Bikini

Baiastice - Maya Blue

Tee*fy - Chalk Dress in Summer

Doppelganger - Zuma Plaid (50L Friday item)

Several things happened tonight. Let's just say that lately my faith in myself and in other people has been somewhat messed with. I don't know why at my age I would still be shocked and hurt when I am...well...shocked and hurt. A friend in SL told me that when I love, I love HUGE. I give all of myself to it. He was a little concerned maybe although he said it was a good thing. In the last week, I have not felt like giving 100% is a good thing. I think it is a very dumb thing. So my faith in human kindness has been obliterated lately.

And then, right when I don't think I will ever believe again, when I'm moping around and putting on a happy face....a little angel appears out of no where. She didn't do anything huge or big. She was just kind and generous. I won't go into detail much, but I had never met her. I saw her at The Dressing Room and happened to like what she was wearing. I im'd her to tell her but she didn't respond. I realized that she was actually the creator of the dress.

I went to the store and discovered a beautiful place with wonderful clothes. There was a lily pad you could sit on and instantly I was floating all around in this most enchanting place. It made me happy. It made me smile again. And I had to have them. I im'd the creator and asked if they were for sell. They were not, but she immediately left whatever she was doing and  came to the store. She said she would sell them for 1L each. I wanted 5, and she gave me 6. I tried to pay her more but she wouldn't take it.

Love this dress. Group gift  =)

You know how when you're sad and someone does something nice and you almost lose it? Well, it was like that. =)

the creator

The creator is Tomo Wachter and the store is tomoto. She makes wonderful dresses and is a wonderful person. If you aren't familiar with her or her designs, please make time to stop by. You will be happy, like me. =)

and thank you to several people today and tonight who, either knowingly or not, made me smile and reminded me that I am loved.

Linden Lab Fires 30% of Staff - Memorial Erected | Second Life Update - Virtual World 3d

Linden Lab Fires 30% of Staff - Memorial Erected Second Life Update - Virtual World 3d

You can visit the Linden Memorial Here. While you're there, drop some lindens in the tip kiosk. Codie did this so those of us that wanted to could pay homage to those Lindens who worked to bring us our Second Life and played in instrumental part in advancing it. There are many who remain, but 30% are out of work and maybe feel like their contribution went unnoticed.

Much speculation is being raised around this layoff. I can't and won't speak to that. I know what my hopes are for the future of Second Life. Let's all hope there is one.

BBBC 2010 & Plurk

Yep, I succumbed to my own inner peer pressure! (Pisces w/ Gemini Moon - it's a special place) And I'm already jonesing for the next plurk. Gah!

But one of the things I really missed not being on Plurk were the newsy things, like Linden Labs (laying off people - oh my!) and about other bloggers, fashion, and soooo many things I'm not sure I need to know. But I was barely there 5 mins when I read a Plurk about the BBBC 2010 - aka - Big Bad Blogger Challenge. I did the first one and really enjoyed it. Missed the next one so def going to do this one.

You can read about it at Alicia Chenaux's blog (click on the title of this post above.) Just a reminder: this is not to register but for info. More info and how to become a part of this will be posted on Sunday, I believe.

Hope to see you there! The more people involved the more fun it will be.  =)

Til next time ...thanks for reading!

The One Where Joonie Posts New Truth Hair

No time to discuss...RL and all that. But here are the NEW TRUTH hairs released today.

First is Nicola in Champagne. I will say that while I was waiting for this to rez, I saw the braid first and was a little bit disappointed. But when the bangs began to rez, I was soooooooooo happy. Joonie has to have bangs or she looks like she has a receding hairline. This is absolutely gorgeous and is perfect for Summer. Nice. Relaxed. Hanging out at your beach cabana reading and sipping Mojitos.

*droolz*

Next is Peyton in Swedish. Love the pulled back on the side look, secured with those cut pins. Very pretty.

I saved the best for last. Joonie absolutely loves this style. It's called Boho and Joonie is kicking it in Champagne.  I have no words...lol...and that is amazing in itself. Okay...deep breaths. This is a beaded band with 21 color combinations for the beads! I'm wearing silver and gold here.

That's it for now. Here's Joonie loving herself thanks to Truth Hawks. =) Well, that's not the only reason, but he sure does help!

Go get them now!

Your limo awaits. Click below!

The One Where Joonie Posted Song Lyrics

In the quiet silent seconds I turned off the light switch

And I came down to meet you in the half light the moon left

While a cluster of night jars sang some songs out of tune

A mantle of bright light shone down from a room

Come down in time I still hear her say

So clear in my ear like it was today

Come down in time was the message she gave

Come down in time and I'll meet you half way

Well I don't know if I should have heard her as yet

But a true love like hers is a hard love to get

And I've walked most all the way and I ain't heard her call

And I'm getting to thinking if she's coming at all

Come down in time I still hear her say

So clear in my ear like it was today

Come down in time was the message she gave to me

Come down in time and I'll meet you half way

There are women and women and some hold you tight

While some leave you counting the stars in the night

"Come Down In Time"  by Elton John

The One Where Joonie Takes a Bath

You know that icky feeling you get when it's hot and sticky outside and all you want to do is come in and take a bath or a shower? And you just can't scrub hard enough to get it all off of you? That's how I felt today. Summer is definitely here. I love these bubbles by Turnip's Home and Stuff. Got to cover up those naughty bits!

Thanks for reading!

The One Where Joonie Walks Away

Walking away can be very empowering. A step in the right direction...a decision finally made. Choosing yourself. And never looking back. When something goes terribly awry there's not much left to do but try to put it back together. Sometimes it's irrepairably damaged. Like an old favorite vase; all the pieces scattered across the floor. At first, it's horrifying. Staring in utter disbelief. Like standing in a surreal painting...watching all the pieces shatter and fall all around you in slow motion. And then the weirdest thing happens. The realization that you aren't going to miss that old vase. That it never really fit in with what you wanted. It was just sitting around collecting dust. Now that it's gone, you can find what you really want. But the vase served a purpose. It let you know what you didn't want and what you know you deserve. So Joonie has swept up the pieces and thrown them in the trash. She knows that, no matter what happens next, she feels much lighter now.

Thanks everyone who came and helped raise money for RLF by dunking me in the pool a bijillion times! And thanks to Tessa for getting the word out. And to poor Gab who couldn't dunk me no matter how many times he tried!  ;-)   And thanks to those of you who couldn't be there but sent lindens. You know who you are. *huggs*

Love you guys!

Truth or Be Damned - New Truth Hair!

Okay, here we are again. Truth Time!  And I am going to start with what I think is my fave hair of the 3 for this week.

This is Tina, a gorgeous updo. It comes with a beautiful bow that comes in 17 colors including an invisible option for those days you want to look all smexy but not all dressed up. I absolutely adore this style; the way it falls over to the side and hangs so naturally...and so wispy. I love this hair. srsly. love. it.

Has Joonie ever looked more HAWT?  See? That is how Joonie feels when she wears Truth.  erm...

Next is Marnie in Champagne and in Swedish. This is probably my least favorite. I think. Although I do love these bangs!

hmm...which shade? There are so many to choose from =)  Photos don't do this justice. You MUST see how it moves!  Love this hair!

Last is Lourdes in platinum. This has a real Marilyn Monroe feel to it so I decided what better shade than Platinum? ;)  I think this might be my fave.  hmm.....i love the side-swept over the eye bang.  I love the way it falls forward. Look at the side view. OMG to die for, right?

I know I'm just gushing now. Too sleepy to say much constructive. I hope the pics will speak for themselves. You know, we all have our faves. Hope these pics will help you make a decision...or just go buy all 3 ;) You can't look BAD in a Truth hair.

Still no Joonie hair. *cries* But, if you say Marnie real fast....

My Big Head

I know this is the lamest post evah! But it's all i've got. Sometimes talking just gets old. Tonight I just needed to sit and chill. Had lots to think about. Tomrrow isgoing to be a busy day for me. Good busy...but still busy. So I'm relaxing while I can. But...there's more...

If you find yourself looking for something to do tomorrow, there's going to be an awesome exhibit by Genevieve Silvercloud/Gen Montreuil at Studio Genre. There well be a live feed from Cafe Taste in Toronto...let me just share the Press Release info:

Gen Montreuil, a Toronto Artist known for her abstract skydiving images published internationally, is presenting her Solution Series. A collection of mixed media abstract images all painted during live video broadcasts, via the virtual world of Second Life. Recently interviewed for Art Calendar Magazine, (June Issue) by New York Times recognized avatar artist, Jeffery Lipsky AKA Filthy Fluno in Second Life.
To complete this series Gen will be collaborating with Norman Kent, skydiving photographer and videographer. His work has appeared in feature films and magazines internationally. http://www.normankent.com/ .

A Perspective on Solution is a cross media art show derived from Gen’s use of the virtual world Second Life with her art. Through personal conflict Gen has produced 8 paintings all created live in front of international audiences within this virtual world. Each painting stems from an original photograph taken in Second Life. She then altered the image slightly utilizing every medium she works in. The final image will be a body painting and photo shoot of this image will be done live by Norman Kent at the opening of the exhibit, and broadcast into Gen’s virtual gallery in Second life.
”While trying to work out the balance of clichés in my life, I was getting frustrated with the linear and emphatic advice I was getting from those around me. So I set out to demonstrate with my art and all the different forms that it takes, that there are more than two or three perspectives on any given situation in life. I am challenging people to think outside the box and let go of silly preconceived ideas.”
All paintings in the exhibit are for sale, including pre orders of limited edition 18” x 24” prints of Solution IX. Numbered and signed by both Norman Kent and Gen Montreuil.
Café Taste, 1330 Queen St W will be hosting the exhibition June 2010, the opening reception is Thurs. June 3rd 6 – 10PM. For details visit the upcoming exhibition page on Gen’s website http://www.genreinc.com/. As well as the DREAMS THAT SOAR page about live paintings, done from the exhibit and broadcast into Gen’s art gallery in the world of Second Life during the summer.
The presentation of this exhibition is being done to celebrate the kick-off of Gen’s challenge to combine a world record skydiving event and art to assist children living with AIDS in Ontario. A press release on DREAMS THAT SOAR, to follow this coming week.
Space is limited. Those coming to witness this cross reality art show are encouraged to come early. Art, live music, and performance photography. This cross media event knows no borders and will have attendees internationally within the world of Second Life.

The musical lineup is:

Maximillian Kleene will be opening the show at 3pm streaming live from Cafe Taste in Toronto.

Moshang Zhao will be playing from 5-6pm while Primervuelo Starsider/Norman Kent is streaming live from Cafe Taste in Toronto Canada.

Komuso Tokugawa will be playing from 6-7pm while Primervuelos' photoshoot continues.

Strum Deisel will be playing the last set of the evening  from 7-8pm while the show in RL is winding down.

Hope to see you there! Festivities start at 3pm @ Studio Genre!

Validation

One of the things I love about having a blog is the opportunity to get to know other bloggers. I enjoy reading their thoughts and feelings about what they are experiencing in their SL. Sometimes my fellow bloggers write something that validates what I've been feeling or experiencing. And sometimes, not so much. But even then it gives me the chance to open my perspective a little bit and see things from a another stand point.

The other thing I love about blogging are the comments I receive. Some funny, some inspirational, and some not so nice. There have been times when people have used comments as a way to lash out at me, or to make me laugh, or to express their camaraderie....their love, their concern, and their feelings of validation. The frequency of comments comes and goes, like a tide coming and out.

One comment in particular stands out to me. It wasn't so much a comment as it was a quote from a book. The book is titled  A Party of One - The Loners' Manifesto by anneli rufus. The quote was:

When I enter an empty room alone, the door closes behind me with a sweet chime of relief. Every neuron relaxes, and my mind and body feel free, finally, of all constraints and pretensions, of all pressures to please and impress and entertain other people. I may sit down to read and write; I may play music on the stereo or on the guitar; I may wander in circles from corner to corner, watering plants, sorting through paperwork, looking at the colors of the walls. But somehow the whole world seems less urgent, more manageable. Though in social situations I am often the life of the party, it is only when I am alone that I feel fully myself. In the presence of others, I never quite see or taste or understand things all the way. Others may get anxious with the closing of the door, but I get a sense of peace. I feel most comfortable, though not necessarily happiest, being by myself.

-Anneli Rufus
I thanked the commenter and promised I would purchase the book. Which I did. On the day of it's arrival, I flipped through the pages, noted that the picture on the front reminded me of what I envision Ireland looked like and tossed the book on my side of the bed where I intended to read it. That was a few weeks ago.

Today, I picked up the book again. I had been feeling a little weird about myself. Something had begun to make me doubt myself. I think a little self doubt and inward looking is a good  thing and helps us be more aware of our short-comings so we can, if we choose, make improvements. But this didn't feel like that. This was more of a searching to figure out why I am like I am. As I lay on my bed, wondering about it all, I happened to glance down and see the sheep on the cover staring up at me. I reached down carefully, so as not to fall out of the bed, and grabbed the cover of the book by the corner, and hoisted myself back on the bed. I leaned back on my mountain of pillows and began to read. The validation I sought was found on the last page of the Introduction. It read:

Being a loner does not, in this so-populous world, guarantee confidence. Maturity. High self-esteem. To this day, I make no claim on maturity. Ours is a path marked with wonders of our own making, but also with barriers, baffles, and border guards, and even land minds. Being one's own friend - sometimes one's only friend - is not always easy.

Thank you, Anneli Rufus for your book. And thank you, commentor, for knowing somehow that I needed to read it.

Til next time...

50L Friday - Casa Del Shai % [Plastik]

This is mean because Friday is over, but I had to share these awesome offerings from Casa Del Shai and [Plastik] for 50L Friday! oops...I waited too long.

This dress comes in longer layers and can be worn as a maxi dress. You can wear all 3 layers for an awesome flowing feel. Lovely. Come in several shades. I used to go to Casa del Shai a lot and haven't been in  a while. I will make a point of going more often now!

The skin and eyes are from [Plastik] and there are elf ears that come with it. I had trouble making the skin match even tho it does come with a hud to make changes. They were all too dark and I was too lazy to go into edit and mess with the texture/color.  It also comes with an outfit. Very awesome! There's also a male version.

Okay, that's it for me. Have an awesome Saturday. Hope it's sunny wherever you are.

TRUTH UPDATES!

Ooops...oh no! Hope I didn't hurt your ears. But he's done it again and I am very happy!

This is Darla in Champagne. *swoon*

Love the long, over the eye side-swept bangsl Love everything about this. Cute but stylish. Great for those boho looks.

Eloise in both Champagne and Carrot.
Another tail, but oh what a tail! Love the fullness of this one. The tangles mess that is definitely well thought out.

And Larissa in Mocha
Yum. So smexy. Cool and classic with an updated fullness in the back. Love this for that come hither look that makes Joonie think she can conquer any...one.

That's it for me today. Sorry, no side or back views this time. But I will say, again, that I love Truth's textures. His attention to detail and his vision and artistry. I know...*drool* on my own time.

Have an awesome day! *smooches*

Shocking!

Are you ever shocked in SL? I'm not much anymore. But lately...I dunno. Some things just are!

When people (guys) are stupid...I'm not finding that so shocking anymore.
But the fact that I'm NOT wearing Truth hair in this photo? SHOCKING!
The fact that this hair is almost two years old?
SHOCKING!
The fact that this is perfectly awesome hair but I've purchased over 100 new ones since then?
meh..NOT SO SHOCKING!

New Truth hair is hopefully on it's way. I need more hair!

Lost

"Once there was a young warrior. Her teacher told her that she had to do battle with fear. She didn’t want to do that. It seemed too aggressive; it was scary; it seemed unfriendly. But the teacher said she had to do it and gave her the instructions for the battle. The day arrived. The student warrior stood on one side, and fear stood on the other. The warrior was feeling very small, and fear was looking big and wrathful. They both had their weapons. The young warrior roused herself and went toward fear, prostrated three times, and asked, "May I have permission to go into battle with you?" Fear said, "Thank you for showing me so much respect that you ask permission." Then the young warrior said, "How can I defeat you?" Fear replied, "My weapons are that I talk fast, and I get very close to your face. Then you get completely unnerved, and you do whatever I say. If you don’t do what I tell you, I have no power. You can listen to me, and you can have respect for me. You can even be convinced by me. But if you don’t do what I say, I have no power." In that way, the student warrior learned how to defeat fear. Queen of Hot Balls

A few days ago my friend and landlord, Liz Gealach, celebrated her RL birthday. Liz is one of the nicest, most creative and fun avatars on the grid. And I love her. Unfortunately, I missed the festivities celebrating her birthday. Imagine my surprise when I logged in and found this little gem in my inventory!

See, even thought it was Liz's birthday, she gave out gifts! Finally, I get to be in a parade, and as the Queen of Balls, no less!

Liz is the ultimate Queen of All Things, but on this day she was honored as the Queen of Hot Balls. There was even a commemorative medal adorning the front of the float in honor of her "Perfect 300" bowling score! Go Liz! The chauffeur was none other than....

Could it be? The King of Hot Balls? Yes! Yes! I think it is! Probably here to award Liz the Linden Prize, as mentioned in my previous post, for her contribution to both lives for her ability to bowl a "Perfect 300." That certainly inspires me!

Happy Birthday, Liz! *smooch*

scionChickens...Innovative?

I just returned home from a nice brunch spent with friends in RL, logged on and went to some of my fave blogs. Good stuff out there. There were some funny things about being SLingle and receiving wedding crap for SL, a nice post of someone defending a friend wrongly accused, and of course the usual fashion stuff.

But nothing was more enjoyable (because I agree 100%) than Crap Mariner's post about the The Linden Prize. Crap explains more by writing:

The Linden Prize Finalists have been announced.

In case you're wondering what the Linden Prize is:
Annual award program to recognize a Second Life Resident, or team, with a $10,000 USD prize for an innovative inworld project that improves the way people work, learn, and communicate in their daily lives outside of the virtual world.
Cool huh? An innovative project that improves the way people work, learn and communicate in their daily lives OUTSIDE of the virtual world. Keep that sentence in mind.  Ready?

Crap continues by saying:

Among the nominees:

6) sionChicken and sionCorn Submitted by: Sion Zaius from Sion Labs

You've got to be shitting me.

How in the hell do sion Chickens improve the way people work, learn, and communicate in their daily lives outside of the virtual world?

No. Really.

Are you freaks sending Chicken-o-Grams to each other now?

Using KFC Doubledown sandwiches in the classrooms in new and interesting ways?

Filling your pillows with virtual chicken feathers because you're allergic to real?

Using the lag to slow bullets to save the lives of inner-city gang kids?

What the fuck am I not getting about this?

Where have I failed to slip the surly bonds of reality to find one whit of difference these things have made in the here-and-now?

Please, tell me in what universe this shit makes sense, because what I'm seeing is a privately-held company making horribly bizarre and irrational choices in a very public manner.

This is a joke, right? They're trying to flush out the reactionary and bash-happy jackasses (such as myself) for some kind of fun trip to the SL gulag, right?

Just. Too. Damn. Crazy.
Bingo! Couldn't have said it better. That is why I'm cutting and pasteing it here. The whole thing makes no sense to me in SL...much less saying it effects RL in a positive way. What? Do these chicken/bunny loving people somehow think about their beloved pets while buying groceries in RL? How about while watching TV, at the movies, talking on their cells? Maybe while doing the deed like little bunnies they're thinking about their little virtual ones.

I dunno. Many of my SL friends are into this. I don't get it. But I guess I don't have to. They seem to be having the time of their SLives.

Go read the full blog post by Crap here.  Enjoy! And what do you believe? Do you have them? Do you love them? Why?

Oh so many questions....so little time.
